Compliance Sweep

Advanced

A rule only helps if the issues that already exist follow it too. Formation's Compliance Sweep runs on a schedule across your existing issues, finds the ones that violate a rule, and — when you let it — corrects them. Governance stops being a thing that only applies to new work.

Formation Compliance Sweep — a scheduled sweep that reports, and optionally auto-corrects, rule violations across existing Jira issues

A scheduled sweep across existing issues — report-only by default, with per-rule opt-in auto-correction.

Highlights

  • Report first, correct on purpose — the sweep is report-only by default. Turn on auto-correction per rule, deliberately, when you're ready for it to act.
  • Backfill on save — when you save a sweepable rule, Formation can bring existing matching issues into line straight away, so a new rule doesn't leave a long tail of violations behind it.
  • Runs on a cadence you set — an hourly heartbeat checks whether a sweep is due, so you choose how often it runs without babysitting a cron.
  • Know which rules are working — rule observability shows fire counts and last-fired times, and flags rules that have gone idle, so you can spot governance that has quietly stopped mattering.

Every correction the sweep makes is written to the Activity log, the same as a real-time enforcement — one trail for everything Formation changes.
